I am so proud to have been able to do the London Marathon for TMS. With 12 weeks to train it was a tough few weeks but the dream of actually participating kept me going. The excitement at the start and the support of the other runners for each other was incredible and when I fell rather badly at around mile 4 (A TM induced leg freeze sadly), it was heartwarming how many people stopped their own runs to come to my rescue and help. The crowds through London were amazing, cheering us on, offering encouragement, providing music/ bands/ Morris Dancers/ drums, even snacks! Crossing London Bridge will be an experience that will always stay with me - it was hard not to shed a tear at that point. And finally there was Buckingham Palace and I knew I had done it - all bar the last metres. It'd hard to take it all in - I'm gradually processing it - but WOW it was an experience. |
