Top tips for event organisersAn easy way to get the organisational part of your fundraising underway is to go on to Justgiving.com. You can put a description of what you are going to do into the Justgiving site and link your fundraising to the TM Society. As well as an efficient way to collect funds, there are lots of good promotional ideas there too.
Next it's a question of letting lots of people know. Email us (here or use the Contact page) so we can put your entry up on our event blog. Tell your local TMS support group. If you have a local radio station or newspaper, get in touch with them. Consider making up some leaflets and signs to promote what you are doing. Remember, one of the benefits of fundraising is also raising TM awareness.
Ask your employer to help, tooSome employers will match the funds raised by an employee for a charity. Check with your employer to find out if they will do this. Ask if you can get a plug into a newletter or on your company message boards too.
Get the T-ShirtLook the part at your event!! You can get TMS T-shirts for yourself and anyone else who would like one for £15. Get in touch (email [email protected] or use the Contact page) to organise sizes, shipping, etc.

Get yourself sponsored to do something specialOne of the most straight-forward ways to raise funds is to go in for a sporting event and ask friends to sponsor you to complete it. You can do something daring like a sky dive! Or something that really tests your endurance – like your first half marathon.
Or just do something for pure enjoyment like getting some friends out on a Sunday afternoon to join an organised walk over the bridges of London. It doesn’t matter what you decide to do as long as it appeals to you – because your job is to approach all and sundry and with great enthusiasm, and ask for sponsorship!
Invent an Event! You can organise an entire event like a family Halloween Day, a Poker or Bridge evening or put up a stall for cheese tasting, selling cakes, greeting cards or plants. Whatever plays to your strengths and sounds like fun! Raise some money for the TM Society and make people more aware of TM at the same time.
